(SOLVED) Can't mount a vfat volume

Hi, I am running the latest kernel with XFCE DE. Until last week I have been able to mount a memory card from my camera in my laptop and download photos into Shotwell. Today, I get this message:
Error mounting /dev/mmcblk0p1 at /run/media/grant/9016-4EF8: Command-line `mount -t "vfat" -o "uhelper=udisks2,nodev,nosuid,uid=1000,gid=100,shortname=mixed,utf8=1,showexec,flush" "/dev/mmcblk0p1" "/run/media/grant/9016-4EF8"' exited with non-zero exit status 32: mount: unknown filesystem type 'vfat'

I have searched the archives and can't find an answer to what I need to do to fix this. Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks
Grant

Does this help: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=28437 ?

If you haven't rebooted since your last upgrade and that upgrade included a kernel update this may be your issue.
