Hello fellow Archers,
I'm a happy owner of a Dell XPS 13 Laptop. The laptop itself is working nicely, but I can't find a fully working Docking solution. Maybe someone from the arch community already has found something.
So far I tried:
Dell TB 16 180W - Ethernet only works reliably with 100Mbit/s instead of 1000MBit/s, Displays disconnect/reconnect frequently, Annoying Fan
HP Thunderbolt 3 Dock 150W - Ethernet and Displays work, but USB Ports are dead (logs are full with message "usb 3-1: new high-speed USB device number 93 using xhci_hcd", number counts up to 127, then starts again at 2) I had the USB working exactly once, but can't somehow get it to work again (no idea which sequence of rebooting and reconnecting the dock made the USB-Ports work).
So does anyone have a solution that works reliably? I would need at least 1GB/s Ethernet, 2 Display Outputs (HDMI or DisplayPort, no USB Displaylink stuff) and USB Ports. Audio Output would be nice, but no must.
Thanks for any advice.

To solve my own topic:
With my third try I now found a working Dock: i-tec USB-C Dual Display (MST) Docking Station
According to my tests the following things work:
- Dual Full HD Monitors via HDMI and DisplayPort
- Gigabit Ethernet
- Sound Output and Input (With Mobile Phone Headset)
- USB-A Ports
- Charging the XPS 13 via USB-PowerDelivery
Not tested because I don't have a device:
- USB-C port on the Docking Station
- 4K Display Output

I have had similar issues with my Dell XPS 13 9350 and the Dell WD15 dock. The USB ports, and the ethernet port all stop working when my WiFi (on the laptop) is having issues (which is very common at my workplace). I can alway tell my WiFI has gone down because my keyboard and mouse stop working from the dock. The ethernet also stops working at the same time.
What solved the issue for me was blacklisting the
brcmfmac
and
brcmutil
kernel modules. I have the 9350 with the Broadcom wireless adapter, which has been noted to have a lot of issues. It seems that the module is also causing significant issues with the dock. I am going to replace the Broadcom adapter with the Intel 8620 adapter (as recommended by other 9350 owners here): https://www.amazon.com/Intel-8260-IEEE- … B0197W86IE
