Radeon drivers.. grr

I had the radeon drivers working, but I don't know what I did... Now they're not!  I can get into X fine and run everything fine,  except 3d games are unplayabley laggy!
Heres my stuff:
Radeon 9600 Pro Sapphire
Kernel 2.6.3 (custom, no dri, agpgart as module, rtc as module)
ati-drivers arch pkg v 3.7 (From the HOWTO, with additions from other posts)
these modules in this order running : agpgart intel-agp fglrx rtc
I'm using the external AGPGART, but neither AGPGART works.  Any ideas?  I'm not getting any errors, but LAG is horrible.  I used to get 1000 fps on glxgears, but now I get 100!  Whats the problem?  I tried reinstalling the drivers multiple times!!  I got it working once, I don't know what happened!

Re: Radeon drivers.. grr

I'm about to give up.  I have three options:

1) Spend all my time trying to get this to work
2) Switch my Radeon with my nVidia card (with 32MB)
3) Sell my radeon eBay and buy a nVidia card
4) Write my own Radeon Driver   wink lol yeah right

Re: Radeon drivers.. grr

you said: agpgart intel-agp fglrx rtc

hmm ... i load only intel-agp from /etc/rc.conf

and the others follow automagically starting x

-> what says "glxinfo"

-> do you have "mesa" installed? (try removing it --- it is not needed, if you dont want to build something with -LGLU and -LGL)

Re: Radeon drivers.. grr

WOW!  I removed mesa and it's working!! Why did that have anything to do with it?
