[SOLVED] Awesome WM 4.x fullscreen frame gap (e.g. with mpv)

This has been annoying me for a while: running Awesome WM 4.x, going fullscreen in mpv (or mplayer or some other programs) does not go fully fullscreen, it is slightly offset up and left by the width of the window frame.

A workaround is to first go fullscreen, then reload Awesome WM config. mpv is now stuck between real fullscreen and gapped fullscreen.

I only noticed this after updating to Awesome 4.1, but I did not recall seeing this immediately, only a few days later. I could be wrong though.

I tried from a vanilla configuration, same thing.

Anybody experiencing the same?

I did not find the issue on the bugtracker at first, but on closer look, here it is: https://github.com/awesomeWM/awesome/issues/1607.

I have the same problem. Have downgraded to 4.0 for now.

A dirty workaround is to start mpv fullscreen by adding

fullscreen=yes

in the config.

That workaround does not work for me. I have the fullscreen option set anyway, as I always want fullscreen.
