Has anyone else noticed that in Thunderbird/Lightning the dropdowns when creating/editing events have gone missing? I've attached an image from mozilla's site showing where they used to be. Creating/editing events still works, but you cannot access the dropdown lists that displayed a range of times or dates as appropriate. This happened once before in a previous update to Thunderbird but then an almost immediate subsequent update returned the functionality. I tested by creating a new profile and the dropdowns were missing even in the new profile.
I'm running thunderbird 52.0.1-2 (x86_64).
Just wanted to check in with other users before creating a bug report...
Cheers, Jules
PS I've tried to follow forum rules with the image below...
Here's the image with circles where the dropdowns used to be:

There were some issues with Thunderbird 52 and Lightning: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=224903
I haven't gone through that thread, but you might find something relevant.

Many thanks - went through that thread and have seen elsewhere recent issues with either just getting the calendar to work at all or I believe there are some threads about getting the translations to work. It's now working - it's just those pesky dropdowns that seem to be missing. Haven't seen where anyone else is talking about that particular issue and so I thought I would throw it out for any other TB/Lightning users who might have also noticed this...
Thanks again.
Cheers,
Jules

Have you tried changing the theme? Perhaps try changing the GTK theme as well.

The controls are missing for me as well but using the up or down arrow key when the cursor is in one of the date/time fields causes the date/time selection widget to appear for me.
Edit:
grammar added "arrow key"

I build thunderbird-gtk2 (52.0.1-2) from the AUR and all's working as it should be here.

I can confirm this problem with the stock Thunderbird install (thunderbird 52.0.1-2). I have tried several themes including Adwaita with no luck.
Like loqs mentions though you can access the dropdowns using the arrow keys.

Moving thread to Apps & DEs.

Many thanks for the replies. Changing the theme doesn't correct the issue. But I'm very grateful to loqs for the tip regarding the arrow keys - that's great to know there's a workaround! I've so far resisted turning to the aur when the application is included in the official repositories... Fingers crossed it gets resolved in a future release and returns to normal functionality.
Thanks again.
