gparted segfault

Hi, lurker that usually finds the answer, but not this time.

I noticed a problem with gparted a few weeks ago when I was going to re-partition a drive that it would segfault when I tried to add a new partition (this is at the set it up stage, not when committing). It wasn't a big issue so I ignored.

In the past few days I've added an SSD, and had the same problem when trying to set it up. Now, it's no longer an issue since I was able to set the drive up from the commandline, but since gparted is simply a front to parted and fdisk, why would the GUI segfault when the command line works?

Re: gparted segfault

Because the segfault may not even be related to libparted but something else (e.g. gtk)? Btw why is it posted in the kernel and hardware sub-forum?

Re: gparted segfault

We need more to go on.

Launch gparted from a terminal, recreate the crash, and then post the output.

No, it didn't "fix" anything. It just shifted the brokeness one space to the right. - jasonwryan
