[SOLVED] kdesu doesn't work with Kate and Dolphin anymore

Hey, the title says it all. I get a password prompt, a new line in terminal, no error message, nothing starts. Other applications seem to start: Konsole, Ark, Gparted… Happened after the recent updates. Any ideas?

What "recent updates"?  Please post your pacman log.

Hm: "A significant change that affects not only Dolphin, but also Kate and KWrite, is that launching these applications as root on Linux systems has been disabled by default. The reason for this is that it is a safety risk to run GUI apps with root privileges in the X Window System (X11)." https://dot.kde.org/2017/05/02/have-you … -available
I guess I have to use sudoedit then. Bad communication from KDE.

With Frameworks 5.34 you don't need sudoedit anymore: Kate has now builtin privilege escalation support via polkit.
