Auth: sddm-helper exited with 6

Hello,

I have updated my system for the first time after 3 months and sddm displays a black screen:

Some of my installed packages:

xf86vidmodeproto 2.3.1-3
xorg-server 1.19.3-2
xorg-server-common 1.19.3-2
xorg-server-utils 7.6-4

Xorg seems to work, I reinstalled it, I also tried to add sddm user to the video group, but nothing changed.

Any hints?

Thanks by advance.

Search the forum. If I remember correctly there have been similar issues here of late. Also try not to go that long between updates -- 3 months is a long time for a rolling release.

Re: Auth: sddm-helper exited with 6

I know... I'm just too lazy.
I tried to search and all the results I have are either from another distribution (requiring the video group), either have another exit code.

Re: Auth: sddm-helper exited with 6

Remove xf86-video-intel, it tends to cause issues and the modesetting driver is usually more up to date.

Sadly that's what make Xorg working.

If I left 20-intel.conf

My guess is that sddm is unable to build the OpenGL which is solved, in other distributions, by adding sddm user to video group (doesn't work here).
I also tried to ad i915 to intel_agp to /etc/mkinitcpio.conf.
