[Solved] Outdated Firmware for Atheros Qualcomm Killer Wireless

At startup, I get an error for a missing firmware-5.bin for ath10k. The firmware file sought is located at /usr/lib/firmware/ath10k/QCA6174/hw3.0/firmware-4.bin . As the error states a missing firmware-5 file,  renaming the file removes the error, however, when looking for the newer version online, it appears a version 6 is available and no longer a version 5(?): https://github.com/kvalo/ath10k-firmwar … CARMSWPZ-2
wondering if the local firmware is outdated and should be replaced with this version + renamed, or local is current but mislabelled & can just rename to negate the error for now.

Thanks.
Luceph

also if fyi, system is: Razer Blade 14" Touch v4 (2016)

Re: [Solved] Outdated Firmware for Atheros Qualcomm Killer Wireless

The latest in the linux-fimware upstream is still firmware-4.bin see https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/ke … 6174/hw3.0
You could ask kvalo why firmware-5.bin was replaced by firmware-6.bin and if either has been submitted to linux-firmware.
firmware-5.bin appears to be here https://github.com/kvalo/ath10k-firmwar … CARMSWPZ-2
Would expect firmware-6.bin to cause issues as the driver is not searching for it.  If you do not have any issues beyond a warning about the firmware file I would leave it be.

Cheers, ty. I'll leave firmware-4.bin as-is then, but include the file you linked as firmware-5.bin.
