Short story is, I have a game that doesn't work correctly unless a certain USB driving wheel, which I have, is plugged in. I don't want to use said wheel and it's rather bulky to leave at the desk. I can remap the controls to another device as long as the wheel is plugged in. (Yes it's closed source so I can't try to fix the game.)
Is there any way to emulate or trick Linux into thinking this device is available even when it's unplugged?

This situation fascinates me!
What is the name of the game? Is it started through Steam?
When you plug in the USB driving wheel, how is it listed in "lsusb"?
EDIT: I found this generic advice here: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/176 … vice-linux It doesn't look very easy, in 2013 at least.
