i have everything for arch under /archlinux....i.e. i have
/archlinux/usr
/archlinux/opt
/archlinux/bin
/archlinux/boot
etc...
i chroot into that directory, and nothing appears to work.

ubuntu is the host os, if that helps.

I have it working perfeclty inside chroot. Do you have all necessary base packages installed (including glibc, bash and filesystem)?

it's a complete working system.

hyper, a complete working ubuntu system (right from the cd )doesnt have build utils. So check if they are there!

I've chrooted from an ubuntu livecd (5.10) into my arch install multiple times without problem.

i'm not sure i understand...why would the chrooted arch depend on anything from the host distro?

alright...i moved /archlinux into its own partition. it works fine now.
