I'm running wine-gaming-nine from the AUR, which patches Mesa and Wine for Gallium use, and it works just fine. But I'm wondering, when I go to install a new Wine version, like lets say "wine 1.7.44" (32bit), is Gallium native D3D9 going to be working correctly? Or do I need the specifically labeled wine version like "wine 1.7.4.4-gallium" for it to work right? I know I can enable HUD and check native D3D status, but I don't always trust what Wine is telling me after I've patched it so heavily and know they don't even like Gallium in the first place.
Edit: meant VERSION not PREFIX. This all takes place in my default wine prefix setup by the wine-gaming-nine package. Corrected the text above.

You will have to use a specific version. If you use PoL wine versions they will use their own builds and they will not have the gallium patchset included. What you can do is go against the "official" PoL recommendation and tell PoL to use the system wine version for any given PoL installed software. This usually works fine and you'd notice if it wouldn't.

You sir are a legend. This was a dumb question, but I had to be sure. However, I decided to not use POL at all because every install script I've got from them has been super janky and half-broken, compared to me doing it by hand, which has worked every time. Thank you again though.

Yeah that's also what I usually end up doing, do any potential fixes to wine setup in wine itself. I only used PoL once when they had a winebuild with a specific patch applied that fixed one game, this fix has since long landed in normal wine.
