[SOLVED] Unreadable text in terminal emulators

Hi,
This is my first post, so please guide me on the information that I need to post. I have installed i3wm and termite and terminator. Some part of the text is unreadable in Termite as shown in the  screenshot, the text "imagemagi" is unreadable.  What things I have tried:
1. Checked resolution using xrandr. It says "VDS-1 connected primary 1366x768+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 309mm x 174mm", which is the correct resolution.
2. I created and edited ~/.config/termite/config to the one available here

Also the problem is in terminal emulators only. Please help in sorting this out. Thanks in advance smile

Re: [SOLVED] Unreadable text in terminal emulators

It looks like you're not using a monospace font. Do you actually have the Inconsolata-dz for Powerline font installed?

No, it didn't "fix" anything. It just shifted the brokeness one space to the right. - jasonwryan

That isn't Inconsolata that is displaying. Try a standard monospace, like DejaVu Mono, and get that working.

What do you mean it is "unreadable".  While I might not be fond of the font in use (it looks like you might be using a proportional font, I can't really tell), your screenshot is perfectly readable.

I had a similar issue.
This post helped me fix it.
After installing packages terminus-font and ttf-liberation, all is good.

Re: [SOLVED] Unreadable text in terminal emulators

Hi,
Thank you everyone for helping. Yes the font was not installed, I had tried the default Monospace font, but it would seem that it was also not installed. I did not know the package in which the font was from but slithery's answer helped me find it. Also DejaVu Mono works too. Got the list of fonts from BigTex's answer, so everything is working fine now.

This is why it's always a bad idea to blindly copy other peoples configs without even reading them, let alone undrstanding them.
