[SOLVED] PlayonLinux "." error and mostly broken by latest update

Hello,

Welp, I tried doing this myself and couldn't find it on(or that I didn't look hard enough) any forums but this last update caused PlayonLinux to break. All of the apps(Such as Office 2007) won't work and Word has A LOT of icons and words missing. A lot fo the times, all it comes up on playonlinux is a very, very, very small window with a "." in the window which you can't close or do anything. I can't even configure Wine on PlayonLinux because of this error. I tried downgrading Wine and other packages but I don't think I found the right package to downgrade to fix it yet. If it helps, the sizeable windows are messed up and static. Can't resize to see the other boxes, had to do the ol' tab button.

Know any packages responsible for these tasks so I can downgrade?

Re: [SOLVED] PlayonLinux "." error and mostly broken by latest update

Found the solution: "You can also get PlayOnLinux 32-bit prefixes working again if you downgrade your lib32-libpng package from 1.6.29 -> 1.6.27."

It fixed everything. I found it just by opening up playonlinux via terminal and it gave me this clue:

"Wine cannot find the FreeType font library.  To enable Wine to
use TrueType fonts please install a version of FreeType greater than
or equal to 2.0.5."

So I googled it and eventually found that snippet from this link: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 3#p1700283

Thanks again!

Don't downgrade system libraries because something that doesn't use system libraries gets broken, that's just asking for trouble

I see. Well, POL is currently fixing this bug so they definitely are aware of it: https://www.playonlinux.com/en/issue-5476.html
