About autostart xfce:
Here is a couple tips if you want to keep it simple:
xinitrc
Autostart X at login
Automatic login to virtual console

Regarding the wireless issue:
Try following the guideliness on the wiki. If that doesn't solve it just open a thread in the support section of the forum.

I started using Linux Arch in December 2016:

And from this time I am really impressed.
Everything is working. Excellent repository. Everything is updated, newest software. No issues, no bugs. Pure bash and git maintenance. Best documentation (Arch Wiki). No bloated dependencies. Rolling release. Living community. Mainstream unix changes (systemd) but with keeping tradition (KISS, bash, git, Filesystem Hierarchy Standard, plain text configuration).

I just saw on Arch Wiki that I can change my ALSA resampling:

And I'm like: ouh, I didn't know my laptop can do this...

By the way, I did not post here to say or suggest that Arch is the best distro. I just won't say or state such a thing, ever, because I wish to avoid making "contest" or "pride" issue out of choosing distro. But Arch Linux is good for sure.

Another little story proving arch is the best distro.

Recently I had to install Xilinx Vivado for a school project.only Ubuntu 16.04, centos/red hat and suse enterprise are officially supported. I tried several time to get it running under centos or Ubuntu but it never worked. Then I followed the article on arch wiki and it works perfectly on Arch ><

So arch really is the best

I'm using Arch,
because of systemd I wanted to learn how to work with it
and configure it. Before this I was (building systems) with Gentoo
It is possible to get a systemd configuration running with Gentoo,
but it's very difficult. My most recent Gentoo box was configured
with KDE because I had to dance around any package (or package
group) that was dependent on systemd (Gnome is an example)
The latest LiveDVD that I have from Gentoo still uses sysinit.
Maybe they've come around now.
For the most part Arch documentation is very readable.
If any package is getting a lot of rapid upstream changes. Then
reading is difficult. Happens to the best of us.

Like the title says: "Thanks a bunch!, supporters of the "Newbie Corner". After a couple of decades of using MS products(either by necessity for work or by compatibility with school) I was tired of being limited to software that never seemed to work, ever, or being slower than I felt necessary. So I decided to make the switch to open-source/minimalistic software. Linux was the obvious choice and after trying out several distros I settled on Arch, purely for the fact that every single aspect relied on a decision from myself. I won't lie, I needed to refer to the forums for help during install(out of sheer laziness as I didn't fully read the wiki until now) but opposed to popular belief this forum isn't "cut-throat". I've found it very supportive and quite necessary to help transition the rest of the world in this direction. Once again, Thanks a bunch!

Thank you to the volunteers who make Arch possible.

The forum is cut-throat in a way. Toxic and incompetent people tend to get shown the door pretty quickly. The code of conduct has that purpose built into it for a reason. See: This entry by jasonwryan. Toxic and incompetent people if not kept in check can literally ruin a community. That is why the door is well used.

Hello guys!

After installing successfully Arch, and enjoyed the pleasure of fixing the initial configuration issues, ricing your DE and taking your fist steps into this magnificent community, it comes a time of truce. The need of challenges makes you explore (or more precisely, distro hopping). In my case I went to FreeBSD's place, tried and tried and tried...And then, it comes the epiphany: I realized that I had reached a point of no return, because my friends, Arch is home .

P.D: I'm not trying to start any stupid discussion here, I respect everyone else preferences; just want to share this feeling so wonderful.."don't you ever turn it off"

You say good things about our wiki yet you have all those 'pacman -Sy ...` commands in there. Do you mind if I ask where you are getting the idea to use -Sy to install packages?

You are not alone, so I'd genuinely like to know where this idea is coming from.

Hey folks, I'm a new Archlinux user switching from Ubuntu. So far, I love it! The documentation is amazingly detailed. Impressed also with the speed my laptop now possesses, after streamlining my system to what I actually need. Am rocking Kde's Plasma on my 2012 model Dell Xps 13 ultrabook. Have used the plasma-desktop group, and installed only what I needed on top of this. Have suspend & hibernate working using LUKS for whole disk encryption, with a backup partition for config files. This is my third install of Arch on the same machine now - have been a bit trigger happy on reinstalling botched attempts to get the hang of it.

Currently my laptop is backed up to my server running Nextcloud (Ubuntu 16.04), as well as synced to my desktop pc (Ubuntu 17.04). I'm looking at switching both of those machines to Archlinux. My desktop machine and server are both for production use, and need minimal (if any) downtime.

My question is this - is this advisable, and can I create a system where my laptop is updated first (not critical - can live without it if needed), then the other 2 machines if all goes well? Generally I'm updating my laptop every couple of days - usually through Kalu notifying me of updates. Is this an advisable use of Arch? (i.e., using it for a production desktop and server?) Is it possible for me to create a stable system doing this?

Loving the project, and keen for your advice. Thanks in advance!

Yes, there are plenty of people here that use Arch as their main machine. I have used it at work for the better part of five years and not experienced any time lost to breakage (tinkering is a time sink I'd prefer not to contemplate).
