No cups printers showing in apps

Hi All,
There's bound to be a simple solution to this but I just can't find it. Newly installed Arch system (returned after 5 years or so and loving it).  Installed cups and added my Samsung CX3300 network printer. My user is in "lp" group and I can print test pages from the cups webapp and the gnome tool but my printer refuses to show up in any applications. I only get a pdf printer in anything I try.
