Bluetooth problem on Intel Dual Band Wireless AC 8260 for a dual boot

Hi, I have a Intel Dual Band Wireless AC 8260 on my GA-H170N-WIFI motherboard
At first, bluetooth and wifi work out of the box, after some 'pacman -Syu'
and a 'forced' windows update (yep, dual boot because I need to play games),
KDE plasma settings says 'No Bluetooth Adapter have been found' while wifi
works but both bluetooth and wifi works perfectly on windows...

Here is some diagnose command and output:

Linux kernel (upgraded from 4.6.4-1)

I did some googling, I found This 3-year-old thread that seems similar to me.
But I have to reset my CMOS to get my bluetooth working again.
Finally, booting into windows will make bluetooth unavailable on arch...
it is just like windows kidnapping my bluetooth adapter.

I don't know if it is windows dual boot problem, bios problem, or linux
kernel's problem? What should I do to prevent this problem? Can
somebody give me a hint?

I don't use Arch (yet), but I just wanted to add that I've been experiencing exactly what you have. I've linked to this thread in a question I asked on AskUbuntu: https://askubuntu.com/questions/855130/ … ows/859396

Ahh. I got the same problem on my Precision 15. It got a Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 8260, too.
I know how to solve It, but sorry we are not supporting more specifically help users from other Distributions.

Re: Bluetooth problem on Intel Dual Band Wireless AC 8260 for a dual boot

Hey, bumping this thread because I am experiencing the same issues with a 8265.

Did anyone find the cause of this behavior ?

I will try to investigate. In my case I have to shutdown the laptop.

Laptop is a Lenovo Yoga-14ISK btw.

If nobody answers on this thread, I will make a new one more general as the issue is not specific to a single model of bluetooth controller.

@Kaeboujo : You talked about a fix on other distros ? Could you elaborate ?

I have the exact same issues with the same setup (8260). This happened after dual booting into Windows. (Asus FX502VM)

Re: Bluetooth problem on Intel Dual Band Wireless AC 8260 for a dual boot

I have a new Thinkpad P71 with an Intel 8265 that I've never booted windows on.

Kernel 4.11.5-1-ARCH
loaded firmware version 27.455470.0 op_mode iwlmvm
04:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation Wireless 8265 / 8275 (rev 78)
Subsystem: Intel Corporation Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265
         Control: I/O- Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR- FastB2B- DisINTx+
         Status: Cap+ 66MHz- UDF- FastB2B- ParErr- DEVSEL=fast >TAbort- <TAbort- <MAbort- >SERR- <PERR- INTx-
         Latency: 0
Interrupt: pin A routed to IRQ 335
         Region 0: Memory at e4d00000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=8K]
         Capabilities: <access denied>
         Kernel driver in use: iwlwifi
         Kernel modules: iwlwifi

% rfkill list
0: tpacpi_bluetooth_sw: Bluetooth
        Soft blocked: yes
        Hard blocked: no
1: tpacpi_wwan_sw: Wireless WAN
        Soft blocked: no
        Hard blocked: no
2: phy0: Wireless LAN
        Soft blocked: no
        Hard blocked: no

rfkill unblock 0

Results in the following in dmesg:

hci0: Reading Intel version information failed (-110)

Wifi works fine, but I'm unable to bring up hci0 (for bluetooth).

Re: Bluetooth problem on Intel Dual Band Wireless AC 8260 for a dual boot

Sorry for bumping but I guess the issue is still the same and reported in many forums.

In this thread, it is reported that it is caused by the Intel bluetooth driver on Windows (dual-boot setups) and a fixed version is available which also worked for me on Void Linux.
Moreover, I experienced that booting the Windows installation media already causes the issue so never do so unless you actually install Windows.
