Today I have done a clean arch Install on my new laptop. Everything works out of the box but I am having some trouble.
Whenever I try to start a desktop enviroment instead of Gnome (tried xfce, i3 and plasma) gdm restarts, the only DE that works is gnome.
I'm not sure of what to put to give information. I have a dual graphic laptop but I disabled the discrete graphics.

Please use code, not quote, tags when pasting to the boards: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Co … s_and_code
Your Xorg log for a failed session would be helpful.

Using the first device section listed.

[ 6.094] (II) LoadModule: "nouveau"
There's a bogus configlet in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d that instructs to use the nouveau driver - and you got an i915 chip.
=> either use the intel or modesetting driver

Well, I have deleted the noveau config file in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d and now still tries to use the noveau driver as the log says. The ls of the directory is the following.
ls /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/
00-keyboard.conf 20-intel.conf
Is there any way to restart the xorg config? I think it would be easier but I haven't found anything

Do you have custom files in /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d?
What's the content of those two files?
Stupid question: gdm writes the xorg log into the journal - this is not the same /var/log/Xorg.0.log, is it? Checked the timestamp of the file?

Yes, i have this ones but autoinstalled
10-quirks.conf 40-libinput.conf
What's the content of those two files?
/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/00-keyboard.conf
# Read and parsed by systemd-localed. It's probably wise not to edit this file
# manually too freely.

Is true, i didn't thought it.

i915 is the kernel driver, the one you configure in xorg is the intel DDX called, "intel". However this config as it stands is a no-op anyway since sna is the default so you could also just remove it.

I tried both the first one didn't do anything, but the second one did. Thank you a lot
