First of all let me explain what I am trying to achieve.
I would like to have CapsLock mapped as Super button and then map Super + hjkl to work as arrow keys (I am trying to use a 60% keyboard with no arrow keys).
I was partially successful in doing this by editing the keyboard layout created by xkbcomp.
I got the remapped keys to show correctly as Up/Down/Left/Right in xev and some applications (mostly gtk) and input fields respect the new keyboard layout.
My problem, however, is that applications like Chromium do not seem to recognize the new keyboard layout and do not cooperate. I have even tried launching them form the terminal that was used to apply the keyboard layout map.
Do you have any ideas? Has anyone achieved the mapping of Super + hjkl to arrow keys to work successfully?
