why would you change the style to this? the whole content is one small strip in the middle and the font is smaller than ever.
please use my screen space. it now requires more scrolling, less content is displayed at once and the user has to tediously parse a long slim area from top to bottom to get an overview and find the interesting parts.

Looks like you're on the mobile version

it seems you are right. i am on the desktop, though.
my user agent info is:
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:54.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/54.0
JavaScript Enabled: Yes
Cookies Enabled: Yes
Device Pixel Ratio: 1
Screen Resolution: 2560px x 1440px
Browser Window Size: 2202 px x 1358 px
maybe it is the resolution the site does not catch?
anyway i am relieved that it has not actually become the default style;)

Try to reproduce it in a clean Firefox profile, or some other browser.

Scroll to the very last line. Click the link that says "desktop".
You can toggle the view on any device and your choice is stored (likely as a browser cookie).

ok, thanks, that helped. i found the cause.
the google result i used to enter the wiki had a "toggle_view_mobile" argument in the url: image.
which lead to a cookie to be set which made the setting persist.
