kdoc (tracking post: collection of links and infos abt kdoc)

i'm trying to find out, what happened to "kdoc" ... we have a pkg of it in the repositories, but it's source-path do not longer work ... all kde-ftp-servers have removed kdoc from it

the Arch Linux Bug:
http://bugs.archlinux.org/index.php?do= … ments#tabs

the link to the original kdoc project page (last changes 1999):
http://www.ph.unimelb.edu.au/~ssk/kde/kdoc/

to all who are good in searching the internet:
please help me find out, what happened with this kdoc --- it seems that it is dead and not longer in use

if it is not dead, please provide me the link to the source-tarball

thank you for helping

Re: kdoc (tracking post: collection of links and infos abt kdoc)

great, many thanx (Arch Linux Rule 1: Sarah31 knows everything and finds everything --- thanx a lot!!!)

...unfortunately this is 2.0a53 .. and we have 2.0a54 in the system (without source)

so at least there are sources around now (great!) ... but i'll wait to downgrade till the binary in the repos breaks with something (generally it's a bad idea downgrading a pkg in my eyes, if it is working fine)

Re: kdoc (tracking post: collection of links and infos abt kdoc)

Well, the source-RPM here contains 2.0a54 :
http://rpmfind.net/linux/RPM/suse/8.2/i … .i586.html

After digging more through rpmfind, I came upon :
http://rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2html/search.php?query=kdoc

... however, since I don't use KDE I will stop here ;-)

Rule One, eh? ("Thief of Time" - T.Pratchett)

thanx ... this is a very nice trick: using slack sources for arch :-)

this brings kdoc back on track

Re: kdoc (tracking post: collection of links and infos abt kdoc)

kdoc is compiling again with souces available

because kdoc is not under developement (as far as i can see), i made the url="" of this pkg to this post, so that we track all information about this pkg together if someone googles to some infos, please post them here, if they are not already here

maybe something like this can be set (externaly) as a packageinfo-wiki for each pkg in a way --- just a idea; but a great help --- i was trying to contact the author and people involved to this project for 2 weeks, without success

Re: kdoc (tracking post: collection of links and infos abt kdoc)

What is it with the version numbers anyways  ? In the general rpmfind site I posted, there were kdoc-3 packages .... am I missing something ? I guess I am ;-) ... after all, I'm still not using KDE.

Re: kdoc (tracking post: collection of links and infos abt kdoc)

Hi Archers,

kdoc is not longer provided by kde.org and the website of this project
is last updated longer than 2 years ago. The author is not responding
to emails and is not reachable.

As the sources disappeared from the kde-servers, i changed to use
sources from Slackware 8.1 for this pkg to be still build-able. (thanx
Sarah31 for the link)

In wonder if kdoc is used by anyone here, i want all, who need this pkg
staying in Arch Linux to reply to the Mailing List (arch@archlinux.org) and express, that they
are using kdoc. If you plan to use it, please explain why.

If there is no positive answer, nobody claiming using this package till

        the 20. March 2004,

i will remove it from the repositories.

thanx in advance,

Damir Perisa

Re: kdoc (tracking post: collection of links and infos abt kdoc)

maybe place this on the ML, in the forums' Announcement section, and on the frontpage. may as well try and reach as many people as possible.
