[Solved] When (and how) Arch adopts fixes for upstream bugs?

Hi,

I filed a bug with Gnome Online Accounts upstream which was accepted (see: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=783385).

Questions are:
    a) How upstream fixes/patches get adopted in Arch? And,
    b) How long it takes for patched package to become available in Arch testing and stable repos.

Thank you.

KDE is all good bloated, try to trim away from K*.apps... whatever it leaves behind equals "Kuck yourself!"
nVidia.... fsck sdy0

Arch ships stable releases. So when the next stable release is tagged by upstream (including your patch), it will appear in our repos.

Maybe you want expand on this since there are components that take LONG to get new releases and there are new releases not releases for bugfixed, an example is systemd.
In that case when Arch backport a bugfix and when not could be a better question if we count that weird versioning.

Well, I suppose that this is somekind of signature, no?

You will find some packages with backported bugfixes or sometimes even using a development revision if there are critical bugs in a upstream release, but AFAIK that is all decided by the respective maintainer. In general Arch will ship stable releases, but if there is a critical bug in a upstream release which was not detected before the package hit the repos the maintainer can decide to include patches for it or just downgrade a package again.

No reason to wait. Build it yourself with the abs and use it until the repo version replaces it. That way if the patch doesn't work as well as you expect you can fix it before the rest of us get it.
