GNOME Shell + Intel HD3000 = Heavy lag, or does it?

Good evening!

I'm experiencing extremely low refresh rate of the gnome animations when showing all apps. More the icons, more the lag.
I just want to note that the lag is gone when stress-loading at least one of my CPU cores (i7-2630QM).

For example if I open a Terminal and execure:

yes > /dev/null

and then open the app drawer, the lag is gone and animations are running smoothly.
It seems like CPU scaling lag issue, but confuses me alot.

Any help suggestions will be appreciated. I just cant give more details, there's nothing like an error or warning that can cause it, it just lags when system is in idle and works smooth when it's not.
