[SOLVED] Screen dims always

Hi Community

Have the problem that my screen always gets dimmed after a few seconds, altought I have disabled the option "Reduce brightness in inaktive".

I use Gnome, Wayland and a Intel GPU.

Thanks for your help.

Re: [SOLVED] Screen dims always

If you mean the slight dimming after 20-30 seconds, you can disable it by opening dconf-editor and editing org/gnome/settings-daemon/plugins/power/idle-brightness

Uncheck "use default value" and enter "100" in the custom value field.  That will effectively disable the auto-dimming option.

I spent several hours trying to figure out what caused that dimming because there are no exposed controls for it in the UI and it's very irritating while reading on the screen (30 seconds dimming meant it dimmed halfway through every page); I actually thought it might be a hardware feature of my screen until I booted another non-linux OS and saw that it didn't happen at all.  Eventually I found the dconf-key.

Anyway, hope this helps!
