Firefox missing the "open with" option for *.doc

Hello there,
I've got a problem with Firefox handling *.doc-Files. When I click a link, there's no "open with..." option. Only "save". Why is this?
open with dialog missing

There isn't configured anything in the application-settings in the options.
options in firefox

I am using libreoffice-fresh and it's the newsest version (5.3.4.2 30m0(Build:2). The same goes for Firefox (54.0.1).

If I try to open a *.kdbx-File it works and I can choose an application to open it with, without first downloading and saving it somewhere.

Someone has any idea, why Firefox behaves like this?
ArchLinux is installed just a few days ago - it did work on the same site before I did so, using the exact same applications, Firefox and Libreoffice

Thanks for the help & best regards!

Check out the Firefox open with extension if its not done natively. This is a firm favourite of mine.

Thanks for the idea...
I installed it, configured an entry for libreoffice-writer in the context menu and chose it when rightclicking on the link...

But unfortunatelly this doesn't work. It says something like:
Error while reading data from the internet. Server error report: 403 forbidden
(it's not the exact wording, since it's a translation from German).

error when opening with libreoffice-writer

Re: Firefox missing the "open with" option for *.doc

lepatman  Sorry i have no experience with libre-office, seems strange tho as open with works flawless for me, all i got is ensuring you got the right path in `open with` for the .doc opener. Maybe someone with more knowledge of libre office will pipe in, good luck.
[edit]  that `error` seems to have more to with the source of the .doc file imo.
