[SOLVED] Wayland Fails

Hi,

I've been trying for a week to make wayland work.  I have an Asus x99 mother board, Nvidia Geforce 970, nouveau driver installed, up to date install.  X11 is not installed.  Gnome is installed.

Using the command string from the Gnome page "XDG_SESSION_TYPE=wayland dbus-run-session gnome-session" I get the error:

Activating service name='org.freedesktop.systemd1' failed: Process org.freedesktop.systemd1 exited with status 1

a half dozen times.

weston-launch fails with "failed to create compositorbackend.so"

I've read all the forum postings I can find, and googled every variation I can think of.  Any suggestions appreciated.

Sort of solved.  A workaround.  Found the following command in an ARM forum:

weston --backend=fbdev-backend.so

From a root terminal, it launches a Weston desktop with the processes

root ... /usr/lib/weston/weston-keyboard
root ... /usr/lib/weston/weston-desktop-shell
root ... /usr/bin/weston-terminal

Presumably, the terminal process is the terminal I've launched.  Haven't had much opportunity to explore or figure out what I have yet.

The commands from the Wikis for Gnome and Weston are still not productive.
