GNOME wont suspend on lid close but i3 will.

When I close my laptop while I am running i3, it suspends no problem. When I do the same while running gnome3, it does nothing but turn off the screen.

I have searched around on the web for a fix for a few days but to no avail. Specifically I have tryed changeing the options in the /etc/systemd/logind.conf by uncommenting  the HandleLidSwitch=suspend line, but that did nothing to help either.

In case it matters I am using a nvidia gpu with proprietary drivers.

What is that I am not understanding or is this a bug mabye?

Re: GNOME wont suspend on lid close but i3 will.

Gnome doesn't respect logind.conf, try gnome settings (GUI).
