Bluetooth on Lenovo T450s - rtl8761a - config file missing?

Hi- I am running up-to-date everything (4.11.9-1) on my Lenovo T450s and bluetooth isn't working. It used to work, several minor kernel versions ago (definitely circa 4.4) and now it does not...

$bluetoothctl
[NEW] Controller C8:FF:28:5B:31:BC ember [default]
[NEW] Device 5A:5A:5A:A6:31:1C S3020S
Agent registered
[bluetooth]# power on
Changing power on succeeded
[bluetooth]# scan on
Discovery started

Upon hitting scan on, I get the following in my journal:

Jul 17 22:41:36 ember kernel: Bluetooth: hci0 command 0x2005 tx timeout
Jul 17 22:41:38 ember kernel: Bluetooth: hci0 command 0x200b tx timeout
Jul 17 22:41:41 ember kernel: Bluetooth: hci0 command 0x200c tx timeout
Jul 17 22:41:48 ember kernel: Bluetooth: hci0 command 0x2005 tx timeout
Jul 17 22:41:50 ember kernel: Bluetooth: hci0 command 0x200b tx timeout
Jul 17 22:41:53 ember kernel: Bluetooth: hci0 command 0x200c tx timeout
...

and of course the controller fails to discover any devices.

After some digging I find the following in dmesg:

[ 32.240218] Bluetooth: hci0: rtl: examining hci_ver=06 hci_rev=000a lmp_ver=06 lmp_subver=8761
[ 32.240219] Bluetooth: hci0: rtl: loading rtl_bt/rtl8761a_config.bin
[ 32.240442] bluetooth hci0: Direct firmware load for rtl_bt/rtl8761a_config.bin failed with error -2
[ 32.240444] Bluetooth: hci0: Failed to load rtl_bt/rtl8761a_config.bin
[ 32.240447] Bluetooth: hci0: rtl: loading rtl_bt/rtl8761a_fw.bin
[ 32.242232] Bluetooth: hci0: rom_version status=0 version=2
[ 32.242241] Bluetooth: cfg_sz 0, total size 22176
[ 32.832812] Bluetooth: RFCOMM TTY layer initialized
[ 32.832817] Bluetooth: RFCOMM socket layer initialized
[ 32.832822] Bluetooth: RFCOMM ver 1.11

this may be a longshot, but... the file /usr/lib/firmware/rtl_bt/rtl8761a_config.bin does not exist (/usr/lib/rtl_bt/rtl8761a_fw.bin does exist)... could a missing configuration file be the reason for this failure?

If not, can anyone else confirm whether this chipset is working on a current kernel?
