Irritating noise when playing a large mkv file in vlc

Hello,

When I try to read an episode of GoT (>1GB .mkv file) I get a very irritating noise.
I tried different things but at best I have the sound working fine but without the voices of the actors and at worst I have an airplane landing in my computer. What's bizarre is that the other audio track (commentary from the creator) works just fine.
It doesn't do that with other files (<1GB .mkv file).

I'm using vlc2.2.6-2 and pulseaudio10.0-3 but I'm not an expert with all the sound system.

Thank you for reading.

I don't know if you have the same problem, but I had also bad sounds sometimes; and I seem to have solved it by removing the 'speech-dispatcher' package, seeing in the processes list that the bad sounds started at the same time the speech-dispatcher processes started.

Alsa output works ok?

Wait, what does this have to do with the video file being large?

Have you confirmed that the audio track in the video file isn't corrupt?

Is any other audio corrupt?

What did you do when you "tried different things"?

Re: Irritating noise when playing a large mkv file in vlc

speech-dispatcher isn't installed.

It's not corrupted because I can play it without any problem with deepin-movie.
I tried a different large file and this one works fine.

How do I check the alsa output? I really don't know how the sound system works.

I tried to change many settings in vlc, I don't remember exactly which one, I tried to switch the sound to my TV through hdmi.
I played the sound in Audacity and it's ok

By changing the output module in vlc audio settings. Also check this http://www.brorsoft.com/how-to/solve-vl … issue.html. Check vlc forum for further info 'cause basicaly this is not an Arch issue wink

I posted in the vlc forum too but arch users are always a good help wink
I already tried to change it but I think that when I change to ALSA it uses pulseaudio anyhow.

EDIT: I changed the output module, and I don't have the noise but I still don't have the voices.
