KDENLIVE and opengl

Hello all,

I have a short question. I am using KDENLIVE for a while now. What i have noticed is, that the option for using OpenGL is not working. It is not possible to select the checkbox. It is always off. The Help Box is saying that you have to activate the OpenGL flags for MLT.

Could somebody explain me, how to get OpenGL working with KDENLIVE?

I have installed and configured the NVIDIA Driver. GLX and OpenGL is working with other applications....

Thanks and regards
danyo

Re: KDENLIVE and opengl

Not sure if this helps, but try installing movit.
mlt optionally depends on it for opengl support.

Re: KDENLIVE and opengl

Hi,

with installing movit, the flag in KDENLIVE for activating opengl was selectable.
But when i start playing the project, KDENLIVE crashes. The whole Application KDENLIVE
will be closed without a message. If i  remove the flag for opengl, everything works fine.

So, do i have to install the git version of mlt and KDENLIVE? Both are located withing the AUR.

Could somebody explain to me, how to enable the opengl flags of packages, i install via AUR?

Or is there another solution to solve the problem with opengl and KDENLIVE?

Thanks for your answers....

Regards
danyo

Re: KDENLIVE and opengl

I seem to be having the same problem. If I run Kdenlive with the OpenGL box selected the program segfaults when I try to move the timeline cursor the program immediately segfaults. If I turn off the OpenGL option, the program works fine.

I'm not sure whether this is a Kdenlive issue or a movit issue.

Re: KDENLIVE and opengl

There's a newer version of kdenlive in KDE-Unstable, you could try that one.
see https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=228432 .

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.

Re: KDENLIVE and opengl

Hi, sorry mods if I'm bumping this thread.

I had this issue as well (kdenlive would simply crash upon moving the timeline cursor) and simply renaming or removing

~/.config/kdenliverc

to force a refresh of default settings.

Re: KDENLIVE and opengl

Thanks for sharing a potential solution, but seeing as the thread is well old and the OP not being very active since then, I'll close this thread.
