Intel iwlwifi broken

My WiFi hasn't been working since I booted up this morning. Last did a pacman -Syu last night (August 6 2017).

I'm using Linux 4.12.4-1 x86_64 on a Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon (2015/Intel Broadwell).

I have tried downgrading linux-firmware to the April 22 revision, downgrading Linux to 4.12.3, and combinations of firmware/kernel, none of which resolved the issue.

Any recommendations?

Try a "live" ISO image to check for hardware failure and eliminate configuration problems.

Also, please use code tags when posting terminal output — you have used quote tags.

Re: Intel iwlwifi broken

You're loading the /usr/lib/firmware/iwlwifi-7265D-27.ucode firmware.
Move that away and then downwards (ie, move away /usr/lib/firmware/iwlwifi-7265D-22.ucode next) until either the network works or you've nothing to move left ;-)

Re: Intel iwlwifi broken

You definitely want to report this upstream so it gets fixed.

Re: Intel iwlwifi broken

@ROOKIE would you report it using the email adresses from https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/ke … 4ca11ee54a?
I can not see a category in https://bugzilla.kernel.org/ that would really fit apart from other/other there is also the linux-wireless mailing list.
Edit:
Link to correct commit the -27 commit not the -22 commit.

Re: Intel iwlwifi broken

Upstream also has -29 in production which you may test: https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/ke … D-29.ucode

Re: Intel iwlwifi broken

I would either report it on the kernel bugzilla (drivers -> network-wireless) or ask about this problem in the linux-wireless mailing list. I know that for some drivers there are separate bug trackers but it doesn't seem to be the case for wifi drivers, in case of doubt ask in the mailing list.

Re: Intel iwlwifi broken

Send an email to intel linuxwifi@intel.com with a link to the bug report
If they see enough problems with this firmware they can pull it from upstream
