VLC 3.0 crashes on file open, VLC 2.2 is fine.

First of all, I would say I am an advanced beginner, so please bear with me.

I'm using a Retina MacBook Pro with GNOME 3 (running on Wayland) and have used VLC 2.2 from the official repositories perfectly fine for about 3 months. However, it doesn't really have support for HiDPI displays, and vlc-git from the AUR does. So I installed VLC 3 and I can open the actual application fine, but when I open a file, it crashes instantly. Here is the error message from the terminal:

I'm sure the answer is glaringly obvious but I'm not sure what I'm looking for. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Re: VLC 3.0 crashes on file open, VLC 2.2 is fine.

Post details on that coredump, try to disable hardware decoding in the preferences and/or see if you can reproduce in a Xorg session as opposed to a wayland session. Maybe it's also a problem of the revision you compiled, using -git builds that might happen from time to time.
