Hi all,
A couple months ago, there was a gfortran update which bumped libgfortran.so from version 3 to 4. That, among other things, caused the R package in the arch repos to fail with:
/usr/lib64/R/bin/exec/R: error while loading shared libraries: libgfortran.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
While installing R-devel (which compiles R) was able to link to the new fortran lib, most R packages are not available for that version. A different thing I am trying is installing gcc6-fortran from AUR, which takes a lot to compile on my machine, so this is a sub-optimal "solution" at best.
My question, though, is not about a workaround. There seems to be an official package which has been broken for several months, and no official statement on the news list and/or the package description. So my question really is: Is there a bug report already for this? I couldn't find it myself. And if there is not, where do I submit one? R, or arch linux?
Thanks

Or rather there isn't, and the problem is on your side. Search the forum and the bug tracker as this has been covered extensively.

If that is the case, I am very sorry. However, I seem to be unable to find any relevant information on the matter. Maybe my search engine skills are not as good as they should.
Could you please link to some of this discussion? That would be very helpful for me!
EDIT: To clarify, I have found some forum posts about people commenting this issue, but no proper fixes in them. The best I found are the two workaround I mention in my initial post. Some of the places I looked into already are:
- https://stackoverflow.com/questions/446 … -3-on-arch
- https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=226849
Thanks

Check your AUR packages... particular ones that to math type stuff. You need to rebuild it.

Thank you, it was an AUR package.

If you could provide information about which AUR package was causing the problem for you, it may help someone else with the same issue.
Mod note: Moving to AUR Issues.
