voip / internet phone applications?

Are there any VOIP applications other than Skype available in Arch? Do you use any? Skype is not open source and have lots of problems with audio (I already read HOWTOs how to fix it, but I still have problems on onboard cs64xx and ISA sbawe). I read about many VOIP applications but which is mature and which is available as package or PKGBUILD?

Re: voip / internet phone applications?

ekiga in [extra] - very mature, used to be GnomeMeeting. Otherwise, search the AUR for voip or sip.

Re: voip / internet phone applications?

I am trying to use ekiga, but....
In the configuration there is a link called "Get an ekiga.net SIP account". Nothing happens when I click it.
And after I setup all options I see "registration failed".
How to fix it?

Re: voip / internet phone applications?

You can register directly at www.ekiga.net, or you can use another provider altogether - you don't have to use the ekiga SIP service with the ekiga phone app.

Re: voip / internet phone applications?

Hello,

I can recommand twinkle for kde. I first compiled it myself, but it is also available in the community-repository. It is a sip-client, supports speex, 2 lines and integrates with the kde-addressbook.

Greetings,

Michel

Re: voip / internet phone applications?

you might want to give Wengo/OpenWengo a try

And OpenWengo is opensource (+ support for multiplatform / multiprotocol / + video conf)

Re: voip / internet phone applications?

Maybe I am a really dumb user, but I can't find any way to search for new contacts in ekiga. When I try to search in ekiga white pages I always get 0 replies (just like people on ekiga forum), I read that ekiga supports many very important protocols and blah blah blah,  but I can't find single tutorial what data to put in ekiga to browse users.
Maybe everyone else knows it, so this kind of information is not important to place it in FAQ, but for me - a dumb user - ekiga is currently completly useless application.
Skype sux, but it at least works.

For me Ekiga works much better than Skype and why I prefer Ekiga is because web camera works too and I could see and other site see me too smile.

Re: voip / internet phone applications?

In my settings I have in STUN in NAT Traversal metod and for server is stun.ekiga.net

Same here.

I click "address book" in menu, then I click "search" in "Ekiga White Pages" and the result is always 0.
How can I add new address book? What settings to set in a form?
Where can I read about it?

For White pages I have:
Hostname: ldap.ekiga.net
Port: 389
Base DN: dc=ekiga,dc=net
Search Scope: Subtree
Search Attribute: telephoneNumber

I click just on Find and there are many users.
On the Ekiga Forum page I found also configuration for seconix, there are users but I never use and I don't have anymore.
But sometomes is a problem with server and results is 0.

I found help on the forum:

Re: voip / internet phone applications?

SFLphone looks interesting but doesn't appear to be maintained.
It's also in AUR.

The skype update fixed the audio probs for me.
