I have been having some problems with the brightness control in Cinnamon.
I am running on a Samsung NP370R4E-S05PH which has an Intel HD Graphics 3000 and an AMD Radeon HD 8750M as rendering device.
looking at /sys/class/backlight:
acpi_video0 acpi_video1 intel_backlight
modifying brightness through acpi_video0 is the only option that does modify the actual brightness on the screen. However, Cinnamon brightness applet modifies intel_backlight instead.
I've tried entering the kernel parameters as explained here. some options removed the acpi_video folders upon next reboot, but the intel_backlight folder does not disappear. Is there any way to force using acpi_video0 instead of intel_backlight.
