What has changed in ttf-bitstream-vera-1.10-4 ???

Today pacman upgraded from ttf-bitstream-vera-1.10-3 to ttf-bitstream-vera-1.10-4.
Now my fonts look very ugly in firefox and thunderbird.
In KDE my subpixel hinting settings were turned off, but I turned them on again.
Now KDE look good again, also GTK2-Applikations, except firefox and thunderbird.
The menu still looks good, but all the websites and emails are very hard to read.
I reinstalled ttf-bitstream-vera-1.10-3 now and everything looks nice again, but do you know whats the problem with this package?
Anybody had the same experience?

What is strange: When I installed the new version, a font cache update was made.
When I installed the old version again, NO font cache update was made.
Just for fun I reinstalled the NEW version, and again a font cache update was made. So maybe that is the problem?

New version add license file, dependencies to xorg-fonts-encodings and xorg-font-utils and fixes in install script.

This would have to do with the install script, and I do know that some of the font packages were bumped up a build because the order of mkfontscale and mkfontdir, and/or fc-cache were not in sequence or missing. The fact that you are seeing a rebuild of the font cache when the newer version is installed would seem to indicate this was at least one of the aspects being addressed.

OK it still looks strange.
I updated arch today (over 250MB), Firefox and Thunderbird had ugly fonts.

I changed the settings in Firefox and Thunderbird to these:
fontconfigfirefox3pw.png

and I changed these settings in KDE:
kdefontconfig0rf.png

Firefox looks ok now, but some mails in Thunderbird still look weird.
But I can't turn it off with the above settings. I really don't understand why the font-look changed... anyway its nearly perfect again now.
