Deactivate automatic brightness control

Does anyone know how to deactivate the automatic brightness control?
I am using gnome 3.24.2 and kernel 4.12.8-2. The gnome settings -> Energy -> Dim during inactivity is set to off. There are no laptop tool installed that could control this.
Never the less after a time the brightness of the display is reduced.

Re: Deactivate automatic brightness control

You question is too vague. Some laptop have an ambient light sensor and adjust the backlight accordingly. Is it that you are talking about? There is a post there https://possiblelossofprecision.net/?p=1537 for the HP elitebook 2560p but maybe you can try to ind a similar file on other laptop. Also that feature can be disabled in the BIOS.

Some desktop environment dim the display when the battery is low or other things like that. I do not know Gnome. In xfce the is a Power manager setting where you can set this. Maybe there is something similar in Gnome?
