Steam forgets login data and language settings

Hi!

I have a strange problem for some weeks:
The native steam client forgets the username and password and asks for a new or existing account. Or it forgets my language setting (german). Or both!
This only occurs the first steam start after booting the computer, later steam restarts are no problem at all. I found out that these settings are stored in
~/.steam/registry.vdf and they look okay when I start the computer. But the steam client seems to delete the entries.

The support does not help, because it isn't ubuntu and the steam forum is no help too, I just found out that there are other people with the same problem
(and ubuntu...).

I already deleted everything from my ~ (.steam, .local/share/steam, etc.) and reinstalled steam, that didn't help.

Any ideas anybody?

Re: Steam forgets login data and language settings

I've read somewhere that setting ~/.steam/registry.vdf to read only prevents this. I'm still testing this but haven't gotten that problem again since that.
