Another stray '$q q' inserted editing or creating new files

This post which is now solved had the same issue as me

I did try to solution at post #4, but as suspected it did not work for me as I'm not using KDE but LXQT and using QTerminal, not konsole

my term from env command says "xterm"

any suggestions?

Did you try changing the term variable as a workaround as suggsted here?
Also have you reported the issue upstream?

Is this the value before you tried altering it or after?  What was the other value of term?  How did you try changing it?
