Hot-plug mouse

I'm having the following behavior:  If I boot up without the mouse plugged in and startx and /then/ plug the mouse in, X doesn't see it.  However, if I boot up without the mouse, startx, run udevadm monitor, and /then/ plug the mouse in, X /does/ see it.

If anyone is interested in this one, please let me know what sort of debugging info to provide.  (Now that I have a fix (however quirky) I'm not so excited about this problem.)

Re: Hot-plug mouse

That's strange... Everything is so automatic nowadays, I THINK it should just work...

It's a USB mouse, correct?

Do you have a "/etc/X11/xorg.conf" file? (There should probably NOT be one...) Or anything in "/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/"?
