Syncing Chromium Profile Across Machines without Google

I was hoping someone would have a suggestion on how to accomplish the following: sync all browser data on chromium between multiple machines. I don't want to use a google account to sync and hand over all of my data. I currently have the .config/chromium folder tracked by my dotfiles repo (private), but find it a pain to deal with, as I may have made changes on both machines before the next sync. Merging make me nervous with all the xml in the config file.  What do you all do? Would Syncthing be an adequate solution?

Got a NAS?  Mount it with nfs?

NAS wouldn't be ideal since I'm intending to sync between a workstation and mobile laptop
