Hi,
Have recently joined Linux, and chose the XFCE theme for the customization. However, is there a way of using the icons from XFCE-Looks on Arch?
I know on Debian you can download and expand into a .icons folder, but XFCE isn't registering any of the downloaded packages... Is there another way, or have I made a mistake?
Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

~/.icons is right path, the result should have the index.theme in this location: "~/.icons/EXAMPLE/index.theme"
You could also try $XDG_DATA_HOME/icons (default: ~/.local/share/icons)
| alias CUTF='LANG=en_XX.UTF-8@POSIX ' |

It might also be worth to look on AUR. Many of the popular themes are already there. Also, installing a package is better than manually putting cruft in your home directory.

"~/.icons/Flat-Remix-Master/index.theme" responds with no such file or directory, all I did once I downloaded the pack was
mkdir .icons
and then expanded the download into the .icons file.
sorry if I am missing something really basic...

Your theme archive should contain index.theme somewhere. The parent directory of index.theme belongs into $HOME/.icons
I suggest you install it from the AUR, though:
super-flat-remix-icon-theme
This particular theme even contains a readme with a section for manual installation to ~/.icons...

Ok thanks,
yes the .icons folder contains the themes, (/.icons/papirus-icon-theme-20170828/), but in the icon themes do not appear in the appearance ui.

I think I'll just install from the AUR...
Just for future is there as simple way to install off the XFCE-Looks site (and I'm just thick) or is there a more complicated issue?

See the link Jason posted which has step by step directions for manually installing icons.
