freetype-2.8.1 bad rendering on firefox

Hi,

After the upgrade of freetype2 all the fonts in Firefox are rendered badly, check the following screenshot:

https://screenshots.firefox.com/I5nhZOW … .google.fi

I checked and the only major change in the package is the drop of 0002-Enable-subpixel-rendering.patch.
I tried to reapply it by recompiling the package but nothing has changed.

This is how the same fonts are rendered on v2.8:

FS#55663, please do a pacman -Syu in order to get firefox 55.0.3-3.

This is/was really a bug in Firefox itself, see the linked bugzilla tickets.

Meanwhile you can workaround by disabling skia in about:config, by replacing gfx.canvas.azure.backends and gfx.content.azure.backends with cairo.

Wine is suffering from freetype update too, I suggest wine is updated with this patch until it's fixed:  https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi? … ction=diff

The wine issue is a completely unrelated bug which manifested in the same release. See FS#55667 for more details.
