Hello,
I am currently setting up an arch linux workstation for computational studies. I have successfully installed the OS and created an admin user (me). I have installed lightdm as my display manager, I3 as the window manager and urxvt as the terminal emulator. I have also installed NVIDIA drivers.
As the title mentions, I am using a 4k monitor and, as you can imagine, the main problem is the scaling (especially the size of the fonts: way too small).
Is there a way to scale everything globally while maintaining the 4k resolution?
Since I plan to add many users, I would like to configure the system globally first and then user wise, if needed, later on.
Every user which I create will be able to login through lightdm and use I3 as window manager.
I was able to set the correct keyboard layout for the virtual terminal by adding a line to the vconsole.conf but I am not able to set it permanently for the URXVT terminal emulator: I have to use the setxkmbap command everytime I log in to change it to the correct layout.
Summary:
Problem 1: fonts too small due to 4k monitor -- > I d like to set it up globally once so that all future users will inherit these settings (or set up a scaling factor)
Problem 2: keyboard layout -- > correct layout when using the virtual console (permanently), unable to set a permanent correct layout for URXVT (which comes after loggin in)
Please let me know if you need more info
Thank you in advance,
Gabriele

Or that for "Keyboard configuration in Xorg"?
Also please be aware that shopping list threads are not permitted by forum rules, so if both remain a problem, you'll have to link out one of your tasks into another thread.

Apolologies for the shopping list.
I ended up using a Desktop Environment which gives me the desired scaling (KDE).
Thank you

So what's the status of this thread? Is there still an unresolved problem?
