eternallands, cant see character

Ive just installed eternallands with the help of qpkg, when I run the game everthing seems fine ('seems' Ive never played before), except that I cant see my character. I can click on things and the environment moves around like I presume it should.

My system is up to date and Im running the newest beyond kernel with nvidia-legacy-beyond modules.

Any ideas?

I run eternal-lands also, try just downloading the linux form from their website. It works fine for me.

Also try running it from command-line and see if it outputs and errors.

Re: eternallands, cant see character

Ive just ran it from console and Im receiving these errors:

I/O warning : failed to load external entity "/usr/local/games/el//actor_defs/actor_defs.xml"
I/O warning : failed to load external entity "/usr/local/games/el//languages/en/books/races/human.xml"
I/O warning : failed to load external entity "/usr/local/games/el//languages/en/books/races/dwarf.xml"

The list goes on as I wonder round, I just realised that no characters show up.

Looks like its looking for the skins in that directory...

I think I'll download the offical client.  smile

cheers

Re: eternallands, cant see character

Ive removed the package, downloaded the official package to find the same problem...

however if you edit the file 'el.ini' it allows you to choose the data directory.

Yes, that is also in the options menu. You obviously dind't read the install under linux documentation they provided.
