[SOLVED] New install broken after update

Downloaded lastest ftp cd. Didn't install pacman for some reason. Used wget and tar to install pacman. pacman -Syu. glibc upgrade broke my system. The /lib64 and /usr/lib64 links still exist. I can't run pacman.

What do I do?

Re: [SOLVED] New install broken after update

Well I managed to use pacman.static to fix a few things. But links seems to be looking for libssl.so.0.9.7.

I'll have to build a few things with new openssl

You are using the archlinux.org repos. With arch64.org repos all still should be fine.

I'm just doing all the updates. Hopefully in the right order. No need to do it locally. But give me some time.

Re: [SOLVED] New install broken after update

Ok cool. I find as I reinstall packages, they install into /lib and /usr/lib instead of /lib64 and /usr/lib64. i.e. kernel26.

This is the new wanted behavior. /lib+/usr/lib are the standard paths for a nonmulti-lib distribution.

Re: [SOLVED] New install broken after update

Well is there an easier way to install arch64 not from the latest CD? All the packages the CD install downloads install to /lib64 and /usr/lib64. Subseqently I have to determine which packages I need to reinstall and it is rather tedious.

Once you will update the glibc2.4 package all should be moved automatically to the new lib paths. Latest iso is still usable so. If you have further questions let's meet in IRC #archlinux64 ;-)

Re: [SOLVED] New install broken after update

Well after manually running pacman on all base packages rebooting resulted in hang at loading udev events. So I ended up downloading all base packages from ftp.archlinux.org to another partition. Booted with Arch64 CD, manually created / partition. pacman.static all base packages and used Arch64 setup to setup grub. All seems to work.
