nm-applet not showing in systray - Enlightenment

I'm having issues getting nm-applet to show up in the Enlightenment System Tray. I have successfully installed NetworkManager and removed netctl. Network Manager starts successfully and is configurable via nmcli.

In Enlightenment, I have added the systray module to a shelf, however, upon start I do not see the NetworkManager tray icon. I have installed the network-manager-applet package, and I also have added Network as an autostart application via Enlightenment's configuration panel. I can confirm that this does start nm-applet when Enlightenment starts.

I've attempted to manually start nm-applet from a terminal (without being enabled in the startup applications) to see if there are any errors going to stdout, but no errors are generated. I've tried turning off autohide, with no success and I'm not using any transparency on the shelf.

Does anyone have a nm-applet showing up in there E system tray? I'd switch to connman, but I really like NetworkManager's options for secondary connections for VPN.  I couldn't really find a good way to do this in netctl, but am willing to switch back if it's possible.

Help!

On a side note: while trouble shooting the issue, I right clicked the systray, went to move to > desktop in hopes of getting something done without any success. Now I do get a nagging message about not being able to have two systray's running at once, and I do not how to remove the one from the desktop. Any help on this would be great too.

I'm afraid that's a feature. See https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/En … ystem_tray

Re: nm-applet not showing in systray - Enlightenment

I guess this is a little late (my apologies!) but I found that nm-applet will work when compiled with Appindictor support as Enlightenment's system tray does still support that - it's just the older xembed standard that has been dropped. I added the following to the wiki a few days ago: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ne … pindicator

So instead you'll want to use stalonetray https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Stalonetray
