[solved] New disk drive for Windows installation in dual boot

Hi there,

a have a running installation of Arch linux. It is dual-boot with Windows, everything is running fine. I have two disk drives with the following configuration:
/dev/hda1 --> Windows installation
/dev/hdb1 --> Windows user data
/dev/hdb2 --> Arch linux
I need to change the hard disk /dev/hda1 with the Windows installation for a new drive.

The question is: what steps to I need to take when I replace /dev/hda1 with a new drive and a new Windows installation to keep my Arch linux running?

Probably just reinstall the Arch bootloader.

Is this a BIOS or UEFI system?

No, it didn't "fix" anything. It just shifted the brokeness one space to the right. - jasonwryan

My system uses BIOS boot method, boot loader is syslinux.

My solution would be to hand edit the syslinux configuration file on your boot partition.  It should (generally) be mounted on /boot.
