PKGBUILD for Canon Pixma iP1500 Printer

Hi, I'm not sure if this is the correct place, maybe the forum needs a "AUR Packages release" section?  wink

I wrote a PKGBUILD to this printer and I know that it's very difficult to find this driver, and it even can be easily modified to get others similar Canon printers working so I post it here.

I uploaded to AUR http://aur.archlinux.org/packages/pixma … 0/PKGBUILD

Do you know how to get them working with a IP2000?
Only found one for the IP3000 and newer on a Japanese FTP.
Dont know if there are any newer ones (for other Printers).

That's great! My sister has this printer, and she's been hating having to boot into Windows to print stuff. I can't wait to go set it up for her.  Wonder when that will be. sad

I'll move it to AUR requests, thanks!

Glad to help the Arch community the same way you had helped me  smile

@ Chris|MD: When I was searching how to get working mine, I read on Gentoo Forums that someone got the iP2000 working with the Canon BJC-7100 foomatic driver (foomatic package it's in extra repository). You can try that and see if works for you.

Will this work with the iP4000 ?  I know the iP4000 is hard to get running with linux, and I've just been using various drivers that support very little of the printer, but I'd like better support.

Re: PKGBUILD for Canon Pixma iP1500 Printer

Browsing the archive I only see drivers for iP1000, iP1500, iP3100, iP4100 and iP8600, I don't know if any of this models can get working your iP4000, you can try, just need to change this things in the PKGBUILD depending on the model:

cp ppd/canonpixmaip1500.ppd
cp 214/database/*
cp -a 214/libs_bin/*
--program-suffix=pixmaip1500

Re: PKGBUILD for Canon Pixma iP1500 Printer

I just read that the 4100 is what Canon released the 4000 as in Japan. Might work?

I'm finally getting to set up this printer on her system... bu the printer isn't here to test. After installing the drivers, do I just add it to CUPS or...?

Re: PKGBUILD for Canon Pixma iP1500 Printer

When doing a cupstestppd on the different ppd's in the package they all fail, can anyone confirm this:

cupstestppd canonpixmaip1500.ppd
canonpixmaip1500.ppd: FAIL
      **FAIL**  Bad Resolution choice 600!
                REF: Page 84, section 5.9
WARN    DefaultLeadingEdge has no corresponding options!
