Bumblebee dual-screen: Failed to assign any connected display devices

Hey,

I'm trying to get my dual-screen setup to work on my Lenovo W520.
I'm using bumblebee with nvidia, I don't have any graphics related files in xorg.conf.d .

The discrete graphics card can be used to render output to LVDS1, so in principle bumblebee seems to work.

When I now try to use my external outputs (such as DP-1) by invoking intel-virtual-output I get the error message:

No VIRTUAL outputs on ":0".

And indeed, xrandr doesn't show any digital outputs:

Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1920 x 1080, maximum 8192 x 8192

However, the additional Xserver on Display :8 seems to have started:

DP-3 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
DP-4 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)

and I principle could start programs on that display, but of course this is not what I want.

I had a look into Xorg.8.log and I found this:
